Simon Gilbert is a busy architectural designer. After eight years working for well-known architectural firms in Christchurch working on a range of projects such as wineries, high-end residences, churches and even school facilities as far away as Abu Dhabi, he branched out on his own 18 months ago and established Elevation Architecture.

He is currently working on the 800 square metre luxury home being built at the moment for a US based owner as part of an exciting new development alongside Terrace Downs – a 16 lot gated community – Tui Estate.

This luxury home development is pitched at those looking for a rural environment or overseas investors wanting a country retreat. While each project closely follows the client’s brief Mr Gilbert firmly believes the environment should be considered first and designs historical, sustainable homes which blend with their surroundings.

Most of his work comes by word of mouth as he has developed a reputation for creativity and resourcefulness – able to carry a project right through from initial sketches to the documentation, the building consent and other practical considerations.
